Canada - The Most Popular Destination for Migrants

It's a no wonder that Canada is the most coveted immigration destination for people around the world. The number of international migrants in Canada has grown rapidly in recent years, and will continue to be the same as the country has set an ambitious target of inviting millions of immigrants in the next five years. Canada's reputation of being an immigration-friendly nation has also made it easier for people to move here to explore job opportunities, education, and quality of life. At the same time, free society in Canada and a presence of sustainable livelihoods compel individuals to leave their home country behind and migrate to Canada to seek a better future for them in the Maple leaf country.

As world's most developed nation, Canada is considered to be a land of promising opportunities. Its healthy climate, safe neighborhoods, world-class education, and high living standards make it perfect to raise a family.

FEDERAL SKILLED WORKER PROGRAM

The Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) program has helped countless newcomers and their families call Canada their new home. Until recently, the FSW program only accepted applicants with specific types of employment backgrounds. Many prospective applicants found it difficult to apply for FSW because their occupations did not fall under one of the prioritized applications. The Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) program is managed under the Express Entry system and uses the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) to rank candidates who wish to settle permanently in Canada. Unlike the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) candidates, Federal Skilled Workers are not required to have Canadian work experience to enter the Express Entry pool. Instead, candidates must meet a minimum points requirement based on factors such as work experience, language ability, and education. Once in the pool, applicants with the most competitive CRS scores will receive invitations to apply for Canadian permanent residence.

FEDERAL SKILLED TRADES

Similar to the Federal Skilled Worker and Canadian Experience Class programs, the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP) is under the umbrella of the Express Entry system. To submit an application under the FSTP, interested candidates first need to complete an expression of interest application to be entered into a pool of perspective applicants. The Federal Skilled Trades (FST) program is one of the three federal immigration programs managed by the Express Entry system. As with all Express Entry programs, FST uses the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) to rank interested candidates against one another, only inviting the most competitive candidates to apply for Canadian permanent residence.

Arrange Employment with Approved LMIA

A Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) is a document issued by Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) assessing the impact of hiring a foreign national in Canada. A positive LMIA indicates that there is no Canadian citizen or permanent resident to fill a position, therefore enabling an employer to hire a foreign national. A negative LMIA indicates that a position should be filled by a Canadian citizen or permanent resident. A foreign national cannot apply for an LMIA. Rather, LMIAs are documents which must be applied for by a Canadian employer. While sometimes it is possible to hire a foreign worker who is exempt from needing an LMIA, or who is exempt from requiring a work permit, all streams of Canada’s Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP) require that an employer obtain an LMIA in order to hire outside of Canada. As well, many of Canada’s immigration pathways to permanent residency require that applicants show a positive LMIA in order to claim points for a Canadian job offer.

CANADIAN EXPERIENCE CLASS VISA

The CEC program is a pass fail system. What that means is that there is no point threshold an applicant has to meet. You simply meet the minimum requirements and you are eligible for this program. However, under the Express Entry system, applicants ranked against each other and only the candidates with the best qualifications will be selected. The Canadian Experience Class (CEC) program is ideal for candidates who have recent Canadian work experience and are seeking permanent immigration to Canada. CEC is also one of the fastest routes to Canadian permanent residence, taking as little as three to four months to process!
